Messaging your friends on a PS5 is an effective way to communicate without leaving the PlayStation environment. However, the way you send a message leaves something to be desired. For example, leaving a message using the on-screen keyboard and a controller isn’t the fastest way to message your friends on PlayStation 5.
Fortunately, if you want to transfer a quick message on PS5, instead of typing, you can send your friends a voice message. Here’s how.
How do I send voice messages over PS5?
To send a voice message on your PlayStation 5, first press the PS button on your DualSense controller from the dashboard. In the Control Center select below Game base.
When the pop-up window appears, press Options and select Go to Gamebase.
In Game basein the friends tab, select the friend you want to send the message to. Then select To send a message on the right side of the top menu.
In the chat window, select the microphone in the lower left corner. If you don’t see it, make sure to update your PlayStation 5 to the latest firmware version.
Select the file to record the voice message – your DualSense controller has a built-in microphone, so just speak into it like you do when you give PS5 voice commands, to record. Note that you can only record a 15-second voice message.
When you are done recording, select the Send to finally send your voice message.
Before sending the message, you can listen to it. If you don’t like how it sounds, or you’ve made a mistake, press the Re-record to re-record the message.
Save time typing by sending a voice message on PS5
You don’t always have to type a message when chatting with your friends on PlayStation 5. You also have the option to send a voice message, which is sometimes a quick and fun way to communicate.
As long as you don’t mind talking into your DualSense controller, sending a voice message on your PS5 is pretty easy.
