iRobot introduces its first vacuum and mop combo, the Roomba Combo j7+

The combo device automatically detects the floor type and raises the mop if necessary.

The Roomba range from iRobot is one of the most well-known names in the robot vacuuming space.

And the company has just unveiled its first device that combines both a vacuum cleaner and a mop in one device.

Introducing the Roomba Combo j7+

The Roomba Combo j7+ was introduced by iRobot through a press release. A 2-in-1 combo unit is designed for homes with both carpet and hardwood floors.

Thanks to advanced sensors, when the robot moves from hardwood floors to carpet or rugs, the mop head will fully retract to the top of the robot, so you never have to worry about a damp rug again.

While you work in your home, Roomba Combo j7+ recognizes over 80 common household objects. That means, for example, you can tell the robot to lean around a dishwasher on command.

It also detects and avoids common household hazards like clothes, cords, and even dog poop, so it can keep working without making a mess or getting stuck.

The robot also comes with the Clean Base which will automatically empty dirt and debris into a sealed bag that will not need to be replaced for up to 60 days. Unfortunately, you will still have to manually fill the mop water tank.

The iRobot Home app lets you customize the cleaning and tell the robot where to clean and even the amount of cleaning solution the mop should dose.

You can now pre-order the Roomba Combo j7+ direct from iRobot for $1,099. It will officially arrive on October 4, 2022.

Overtaking Competitors

The Roomba Combo j7+ is the first new product announced by iRobot since Amazon announced its acquisition of the company for $1.7 billion in August 2022.

Many competitors, such as Roborock, already offer mop/vacuum cleaner combinations. But the Roomba Combo j7+ and its retractable mopping pad is definitely a unique way to tackle both cleaning tasks.

A great combination

While the price for the Roomba Combo j7+ is high, it’s a good choice for anyone interested in a Roomba, as it can handle both vacuuming and mopping tasks. And it’s much less than buying a separate mop and vacuum cleaner from the company.
