Current records: Connecticut 1-3; NC State 3-0

What to know

The home of the NC State Wolfpack continues as they prepare to take on the Connecticut Huskies at 7:30 PM ET Sept. 24 at Carter-Finley Stadium. The Wolfpack will come in after a win, while UConn will stumble in from a defeat.

NC State had a touchdown and change last week in a 27-14 win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The team walked away with 20 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to take the win. NC State’s RB Demie Sumo-Karngbaye looked sharp as he hit a quick touchdown and caught four passes for a TD and 92 yards.

The NC State defense was also in attendance, as it accumulated three interceptions and one fumble. CB Aydan White picked up that interception, then rubbed salt in the wound by taking him the other way for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, UConn took a serious blow to the Michigan Wolverines last week, dropping 59 to nothing. The Huskies found themselves in a difficult position halfway through, with the score already at 38 to none. RB Victor Rosa played a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: he fiddled the ball once with just 1.64 yards per carry.

The Wolfpack are the favorites in this one, with an expected victory margin of 38.5 (!) points. Those who take them against the spread are counting on an outcome similar to that of the team’s match last week, where they had a spread of 10.5 points.

NC State’s win brought them 3-0, while UConn’s loss dropped them to 1-3. A few defensive stats to keep an eye on: NC State goes into the game averaging just 66.3 rushing yards allowed per game, ranking sixth in the nation. As for the Huskies, they rank 17th in the nation when it comes to sacks, with nine in the season.
