Flight attendant attacked on American Airlines flight from Cabo to LAX

A passenger who allegedly punched a flight attendant in the back of an American Airlines flight from Mexico to Los Angeles has been arrested after the plane landed on Wednesday. CBS Los Angeles reports.

The airline said in a statement that the incident occurred on Flight 377 from San José del Cabo to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The FBI, which has been investigating the investigation since the alleged in-flight attack, said the man was being held on suspicion of flight crew meddling, a federal crime.

Video taken by a passenger, Barrie Livingstone, shows the flight attendant standing in the aisle, facing the rear of the plane, asking a passenger, “Are you threatening me. Are you threatening me?” Then he turns and heads for the front of the plane.

At that point, you will see a passenger run up to him and hit him hard before returning to his seat.

A producer of KFMB-TV, an affiliate of CBS San Diego, Malik Earnest, who was on board, quoted “witnesses” as saying fellow passengers “helped” detain the suspect until the flight landed. He was escorted from the plane by the Los Angeles Airport Police Department.

His identity was not immediately released.

American Airlines released a statement saying the passenger “physically assaulted a flight attendant” and “will never be allowed to travel with us again in the future.”
