Additional FAQs

Here’s some more information that answers other questions you may have about Google Themes.

1. How do I enable dark mode for all apps?

Whatever device you are using, there is an option to enable general dark mode. The general dark mode feature will try to detect all apps on the device that support dark mode and enable it automatically. However, keep in mind that it may not detect dark mode with every app that offers the option.

  1. You will find this option in the devices Settings menu; navigate to Display and brightness.
    Android 01
  2. Now switch the dark mode switch to on.
    Android 02
  1. On iOS devices, go to Display and brightness and select the desired option. You can choose between light, Darkand automatically.

2. Is dark mode better for the eyes?

Dark mode not only provides longer battery life for your device and lower power consumption, but it is also known to reduce eyestrain in low-light conditions.

However, dark mode is no excuse for staring at your phone screen for hours a day. Any overuse of the screen can still cause damage to eyesight in the long run – always keep this in mind.

3. Why should you use dark mode?

First of all, the dark mode ensures less eyestrain. Then there’s the battery life factor. Simply put, white and clear backgrounds have a higher light emission (as you probably noticed). This obviously means more battery consumption.

Dark mode is also better in terms of productivity. In addition, it looks nice and sleek and cool.

4. Does Google Chrome have a dark mode?

On Android devices, dark mode in Google Chrome is still an experimental feature, activated from the browser’s address bar by entering chrome://flags. iOS devices should see one more option for dark mode in Google Chrome.

Conclusion

There you have it! This is how you enable dark mode on the most important Google apps. While the dark mode option hasn’t been introduced in every single Google app, rest assured we’re getting there slowly. Keep in mind that rolling out this option may seem a lot more challenging than it seems.
