What to know

After a three-game homestand, the Iowa Hawkeyes hit the road. The Hawkeyes and Rutgers Scarlet Knights will take on a Big Ten fight at SHI Stadium on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET. Iowa won’t have the home advantage, but they will have a 7.5 point advantage in the spread.

Iowa came on the board against the Nevada Wolf Pack last week, but Nevada never followed suit. Iowa won their game against Nevada with a convincing 27 for nothing. The game was almost over by the end of the third, at which point Iowa had taken a 20-to-none lead. THE Joe Evans had a great game for the Hawkeyes as he rushed for one TD and 259 yards on 36 carries. Evans had some trouble getting a foothold against the Iowa State Cyclones two weeks ago, so this was a step in the right direction.

Meanwhile, RU came out on top in a nail-biter against the Temple Owls last week, sneaking past 16-14. The overall result was to be expected, but Temple made it more of a matchup than the oddsmakers had predicted. RU’s only offensive touchdown came from DB Shaquan Loyal.

Most of the squad’s points came from special teams, which contributed ten. K Jude McAtamney started three field goals, the longest a 45-yarder in the first quarter, which ultimately made the difference in the game.

Iowa is now 2-1 while the Scarlet Knights are at 3-0. A few defensive stats to keep an eye on: The Hawkeyes enter the game with just one touchdown allowed, the best in the country. As for RU, they are second in the nation when it comes to allowed rushing yards per game, averaging just 32.3.
